Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients:

  • 1 head butter lettuce
  • 1 package ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 can sliced water chestnuts, chopped roughly
  • 1 tbsp chili garlic sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. chopped fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp. rice wine vinegar
  • 1 red Thai chili, optional
  • Olive oil
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Cooking Instructions:

  • Separate the leaves from the lettuce and wash and pat dry with paper towels. Put on a plate, or in a large zip lock bag in the fridge to chill.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of olive oil.
  • Sauté the onion in the skillet until slightly tender. Add the ground turkey and garlic, and brown well, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the water chestnuts, the chili garlic sauce, the soy, the ginger and the rice vinegar.
  • If you want to add spice to the dish, add slices of Thai chili and cook an additional minute.
  • Salt & pepper to taste, then remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  • When ready to serve, place 2-3 tablespoons of turkey into each lettuce leaf, wrap and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Some nights you just want to cook something light and delicious that doesn’t take a ton of time or ingredients. This easy recipe fills the bill (and the tummy!) but keeps it nice and healthy. (Makes 3-4 servings.)

Suggested Wine Pairing

The Asian-inspired flavors of this dish will pair well with a crisp white wine. We suggest our Chenin Blanc or our Moscato, as the sweetness will balance the spice and be a great combination!
