As the country’s longest-running wine judging event, the California State Fair Wine Competition, started in 1854, continues to grow each and every year.  With over 1,953 entries from 443 California wineries, there was sure a lot of tasting tasked to the hard-working judges.  Volunteering their time, judges sipped and scored wines over the course of three days last month.  Once again, Bogle Family wines were among those lauded for their quality.

With the June 21^st solstice, summer has officially arrived!  And with our light-hearted new wine selections, fun recipes and festive food pairings, we’ve got you covered for all your summer needs!

What’s better than sipping a glass of something chilled and refreshing during the warm summer months?  By the pool, at the lake or on the beach, our new Corktails wines are perfect for taking a time out with friends and family.  Vacation-ready, these screw cap wines are easy to take along, and whether you enjoy the Cos-Moscato and San-Grigio super-chilled, over ice or in one of our flirty “Corktails” recipes, they will definitely hit the spot!  If a vacation isn’t in the cards, these light, easy and ready-when-you-are wines will set the mood for any stay-cation you have planned!

So what are you cooking for your summer holidays?  Traditional hamburgers and hot dogs pair well with so many of our wines.  (Chili dog and Zinfandel, anyone?)  If you are looking for a little something to spice up your summer menu, check out our Essential Red Barbecue sauce.  Cooking it low and slow creates the most amazing flavors, perfect to compliment any of your grilled fare.  We love the Essential Cheeseburger with Caramelized Onions.  Let us know what you slather it on…the possibilities are endless!

A Home Ranch welcome

There is something special about the Home Ranch.  Located at the site of our original vineyards in Clarksburg, our Home Ranch tells the Bogle Family story.

Planted to winegrapes by Warren V. Bogle in 1968 and the site where our first wines were vinted 10 years later, guests can actually experience that history upon arrival.  Grandpa Warren’s 1919 Model T Ford sits sentinel out front, welcoming you.  The Chardonnay vines encircling the grounds making everyone feel at home.  And if you are lucky, you may get to see Fang the Cat, who wanders by from time to time for a scratch behind the ears.

This summer, our Wine Shop is open daily, 10 am – 5 pm, with a constantly changing selection of hand-crafted décor, wearables, seasonal goods, and, of course, unique wine merchandise.  It is the perfect place to browse and find that special gift for the wine lover in your life!

Also this summer, we continue offering our seated Tasting Experiences and Picnic Afternoons on Thursdays through Sundays.  Whether you are looking for a quiet, intimate wine tasting or a shady space for a luncheon with friends, we have both!  And don’t forget, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays are our Wine Club-only days, where club members have access to the grounds and may reserve a Picnic Afternoon free of charge.

It’s just not summer without the Bogle event lineup, and we are so excited to be bringing back our Friday Alfresco series, starting July 1^st.  Each Friday in July, we will welcome a new local band and food truck, all to benefit a different non-profit organization in our region.  This year, we’ve added some special “VIP” ways to enjoy Alfresco, including deck seating and bottle service!  Tickets (and more info) are available online now!

Other events we are working on for you this summer include Clarksburg Country Nights with live country music straight from the Music City of Nashville, great wine and food, and a boot-stompin’ good time!  And don’t forget about Movie Nights!  We’ve got a stellar line-up of classics for you this August, September, and October!  Check out our listing of events here!
