In the two months since our last newsletter, it is astonishing how much the world has changed. Our family has watched as life as we know it has come to a standstill. We were so saddened to close our tasting room doors, but know that this is only temporary. We continue to monitor the reopening plans published by our state and local governments and recognize that when we do reopen our tasting room, it will look much different than it used to. But however different it may be, we can’t wait to welcome you to Clarksburg again.

The last weeks have been about resilience, support, and kindness.  We have been so encouraged to see communities coming together to help others, neighbors lifting one another up, and families embracing this time as a blessing. Thank you for your support of our family.

Feeding Our Medical Workers on the Front Lines

As part of our Bogle Gives Back program, our family and staff were able to feed 6,000 Sacramento-area medical workers to say thank you for their efforts to battle the coronavirus and keep our community safe. All of the meals were purchased from locally-owned restaurants in an effort to provide support to food and service industry workers who have been dramatically impacted by the outbreak.

“We know our front-line medical workers needed support, so we wanted to provide them with lunch and just one less thing to worry about,” said Jody Bogle, Director of Public Relations. “In addition, we were able to give a boost to several of our local restaurants so that they could keep paying staff who have seen their hours cut back.”

The meals were delivered to Mercy General, Sutter Medical Center, UC Davis Medical Center, and Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento during the week of April 13th.  Restaurants that participated included Beach Hut Deli (Midtown Sacramento), Buckhorn Grill, Fat Cat Bakery, Fixins Soul Kitchen, La Crosta, Mulvaney’s B&L, Urban Roots, and Zocalo.

“The thanks we received from both the medical and restaurant communities was overwhelming,” added Jody. “It just felt good to be able to do something to contribute to those who have been so severely impacted.”

Your favorite Bogle wines can now be purchased with just a few clicks on your laptop or smartphone!  Bogle is pleased to announce the launch of our online wine shop, which carries the Bogle traditional line of wines, such as our award-winning Chardonnay and heritage Petite Sirah, as well as winery exclusives, such as our Reserve Pinot Noir and sparkling Blanc de Blancs, among others. You may also purchase our Phantom and Juggernaut wines.  Club members can manage their accounts from the site, and new members can join as well.

Shipping has been discounted for the month of May for purchases of a case or more.  Rates include $10 flat rate shipping in California, and $20 flat rate to other states with any 12-bottle purchase. Club members who purchase 12 bottles or more receive FREE shipping. Currently, we can ship to 22 states in the US, and plan to open many more in the weeks to come!

By appointment only, we will be offering contactless curbside pickup at our tasting room in Clarksburg, beginning Monday, May 18th. You may purchase wines at the online shop by selecting the “Pick Up At Bogle” option. Within 2 business days, a Bogle representative will reach out to schedule your pickup.

Please note that due to Yolo County regulations, our tasting room remains closed for wine tasting, events, picnicking and on-site, drop-in purchases at this time.

With 68 years of combined service at the winery under their collective belts, the Bogle winemaking team may be on to something.

Vice President of Winemaking Eric Aafedt, Winemaker Dana Stemmler, and Director of Winegrowing Chris Smith have spent decades honing the quality of our wines, from the grapes Chris sources in the vineyards, to the single lots Dana tends in the cellar, to the final blends Eric creates for each bottle.  This “dream team” leads the way when it comes to handcrafting our wines.

Their dedication shows.  After taking home FIVE double gold and gold medals earlier this year at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, as well as earning two 90 point scores for the Petite Sirah and Old Vine Zinfandel, the awards keep rolling in.
